On Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, the City of Orlando invites residents and businesses to switch off their lights in support of Earth Hour, a global event that makes a powerful statement on climate change. During his State of the City address, Mayor Dyer encouraged the community to join him for this historic event by pledging to turn off all non-essential lights on March 28th at 8:30pm. The City's participation in the Earth Hour event is part of Mayor Dyer's Green Works Orlando Initiative, an environmental action agenda designed to transform Orlando into one of the most environmentally-conscious cities in America.
